A volunteering trip to Israel

When I embarked on my recent trip to Israel with FZY, I had little idea of the profound impact it would have on me. This wasn’t just a trip—it was an eye-opening experience filled with purpose, connection, and emotion.

Throughout our journey, we engaged in meaningful volunteer work. At food banks, we helped provide meals to those in need, witnessing firsthand the power of community and compassion. Working on farms connected us to the land of Israel in a deeply personal way, while time spent at army bases offered a glimpse into the bravery and dedication of those who protect the country.

One of the most moving aspects of the trip was visiting sites touched by the tragic events of October 7th. Standing at the Nova Festival site and seeing the Wall of Cars, I felt the gravity of loss and resilience in equal measure. These experiences were sobering reminders of the ongoing challenges Israel faces, but also of its unwavering spirit and strength.

This trip brought me closer to Israel than ever before. In a time when expressing pride in Jewish heritage comes with its challenges, I found my pride growing stronger. I felt a deep connection to my roots, a renewed sense of belonging, and an immense gratitude for the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the people of Israel.

I am thankful to FZY for organizing such a transformative experience. The friendships I made, the lessons I learned, and the emotions I felt will stay with me forever. Given the chance, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
